Corticosteroid Injections

A powerful anti-inflammatory medicine injected under ultrasound guidance directly into a joint or bursa (adjacent to a tendon) that quickly reduces pain and swelling temporarily (typically several weeks or months, depending on the structure injected / condition treated).  Generally well-tolerated and safe.  Not intended to be a long term treatment strategy.  May be repeated periodically if no other reasonable options are available.
